Seems pretty obvious, right? But that was always the main focus of Professor Falconi. With this mindset, he started a stage in 1973 at UFMG where, besides teaching, he learned a lot. The challenge: qualifying technicians and leaders of the greatest steel companies of Brazil in management practices.

Since it's foundation, FALCONI has trained over 500 thousand managers in its training courses and in its developed projects.
The world in 1973.

The Vietnam War was over, Brazil made important advancements in the energy sector and you were not even born yet. But many things appeared that year that you wouldn't live without today.

Taking pictures and sending SMS messages? Forget it. It was only meant for calls. Martin Cooper develops the first cell phone.
You couldn't carry it in your backpack, but the computer was getting personal. In 1973, the first PC was born.

In 1980, the dedication of Professor Falconi in creating greater efficiency started to become a fixation on results. With the support and partnership of the Japanese Union of Scientists and Engineers (Juse), the Cristiano Ottoni Foundation starts the Total Quality Movement. Challenging but feasible goals instigate the search for excellence. Our eternal insatisfaction ensures the best results.

The japanese work model
to build a model Brazil.

The process starts in 1984, when Professor Falconi leads a mission to Japan to understand the main management systems. There, he understood that there are more similarities than differences between Japan and Brazil. That's where he noticed things can be done differently over here. In 1986, the Professor adopts the Japanese work model. Discipline is serious business in the East. Respecting deadlines and expectations, in one's on time and in that of other people. Understanding and implementing oriental values and methods prepared us in order to take firmer steps.

Messing with a winning team.

In 1998, Professor Falconi was already a phenomenon in Total Quality. Regardless of the shirt he wore, he always acted like he owned the team. Reducing spaces, he created leaders for each position in the field. And the team would always play better. In the same year, with the help of experts from some of the main corporate groups in Brazil, he started the activities of the Foundation on Managerial Development (FDG).

Management shock against the blackout crisis.

Efficient management builds a better society. When Brazil faced the threat of a blackout in 2001, the government invited Vincent Falconi to integrate the energy crisis Management Committee. In order to defeat the challenge, the path was to simplify: involving the entire population with goals that could be met. If everybody reduced their excesses, Brazil would end up winning. And it really did win.

It is our business.
During the crisis, one of the greatest goal unfoldings of all time was made. The goals of consumption reduction came in the light consumption bill, and everybody knew exactly how much they had to save in order to avoid the blackout.

At the time of the crisis, the government suggested many ways for people to save energy. These ways are valid to this day.

Helping Brazil to work better was an irreversible path. In 2003, FDG started working solely on non-profit projects. That's where INDG started - Institute of Managerial Development -, which soon enough became a leader in management consulting in the country. And it didn’t take long to surpass our frontiers and establish a new goal: to turn INDG into one of the most relevant advisors in the world. Nothing could be fairer for those who always believed in meritocracy.

Profit is for Brazil.
When he was young, the Professor studied in the USA. While many of his colleagues stayed there, he insisted in coming back to Brazil. The reason: "to return to this country what it did for me". And that is why FALCONI proudly provides consulting services, free of charge, for a few institutions who help to develop the country.

This posture and the success story made the Falconi name become a synonym for exceptional results. The change became natural: in 2012, INDG changed its name to FALCONI Consultants for Results.

Besides its offices in Minas and São Paulo, FALCONI has business units in the United States, Guatemala and Mexico. And it has already started with a bang: Vicente Falconi was nominated by the American Society for Quality as one of the 21 voices of the XXI Century.

Speaking of meritocracy

If you were in Brazil in 2014, you would not be able to forget one of the most astounding defeats in soccer history. It was July 8. It was 9 minutes after the judge started the match when Germany found out that it would not face a worthy opponent in one of the World Cup's semi-finals. Germany celebrated at the end: 7x1 against Brazil.

The most important lesson was: "Only teams that step into the field ready to play are able to achieve their goals. In order to put together a winning team, committed to the evolution of talents, it's important to plan, in addition to recruit, in alignment with the needs of the organization".
